Cheltenham Design Festival: Whos designing the future? Creative thinkers come together to debate and explore the future of design
We’ve just got back from the first ever Cheltenham Design Festival which kicked off on Friday and runs through the weekend at Cheltenham’s Parabola Arts Centre (19-22 April 2012)
The Festival line up was supported by the best in the industry, with names like Stefan Sagmeister, and the president of the Festival – Sir John Hegarty from BBH debating with Kenneth Grange about the future of design.
The Cheltenham Design Foundation was founded by a group of professionals based in Gloucestershire with backgrounds and interests in design. Taking a three-part approach, in its first year the foundation is reaching individuals through the Academy, Master Classes and culminating in Design Festival running over this weekend in April.
The Design Academy launched on 10 September 2011 and focused on educating and inspiring young people through a series of free, Saturday-morning classes in design during term time until Easter 2012, and the Master Classes for Business set to improve the design understanding of Gloucestershire businesses and help them to raise their profile and reach new customers.
We’re hoping this will be the start to an annual event. For more information see http://cheltenhamdesignfestival.com/
